After spending a few months learning how to build advanced circuits with an Arduino, my team of 3 sought out to build a more exciting bike lighting system. On the left handle bar is a 3 position switch to activate a turn signal, and when you squeeze the rear break a switch is pressed that activates a break light. Additionally we added an friendly animation that is triggered from an accelerometer to play when the rider hits a bump or accelerates quickly.
Through this process I created all of the 16 x 16 pixel animations in after effects, and used a script to upload them to an Arduino micro controller which is connected to the neopixel grid. I also programmed the code to activate the animations based on the various signals, and played a significant role in the overall construction.
